Tips for your bridal makeup preview
What is a preview appointment?
Also known as a ‘trial’, the preview appointment is the best way to test out your wedding makeup look before the big day.
It is a chance to:
✦ Make any changes or additions
✦ Try things out that you might be on the fence about
✦ See how the makeup wears throughout the day
✦The time for us to meet face to face before the big day
Below is a few tips to help you get the most out of your appointment.
Hair Done:
You don’t necessarily need to have your hair done professionally but having it styled will definitely help you see the look come together. Especially in a similar do to how you will be wearing it on the day eg. bun/curls etc.
Bonus points if you schedule your hair and makeup preview on the same day so you can see the final look come together!
Skin Prep:
Makeup will only look as good as the skin underneath underneath, so making sure to take good care of your skin in the lead up is important.
Having a good skincare routine is crucial - wash and moisturise your face daily as well as drinking plenty of water is a great place to start.
The night before:
A light exfoliation to remove any dead skin cells. If you have a regular exfoliation routine do that, otherwise a face wash cloth will do the trick (you don’t need to do anything crazy)
Moisturiser + lip balm before bed. Hydration = key to a flawless application
Get a good night’s sleep! (This one feels self explanatory)
Fake Tan:
If you are planning on wearing fake tan on the day, make sure to wear it to the preview as well. This way you can see more accurately how the colours will show on your face.
Products like blush/eyeshadow etc. will read differently depending on the level of tan you have
Inspo Photos:
Find a couple of photos with elements that you love: colours, shapes, finish, lashes etc.
Bonus points if you find them from my pages
Some things to consider:
Look at the person in the photos: eye shape/hair colour/skin tone etc.
Something that can be helpful is photos of makeup you’ve had on yourself that you liked or didn’t like and why. Eg. you love how your brows look here, but don’t like the eyeliner.
Wearing White (or the same colour as your fit):
Colour theory is HUGE when it comes to how makeup will look on your skin. If you wear something bright/bold/patterned etc. it can actually change the way colours will appear on your face. Wearing white (or a similar colour you plan on wearing on the day) will help you accurately see how the makeup will look when the day comes around.
It also really helps you to see the full vision come to life 😋
Be honest
This is your makeup and I want you to feel comfortable. Please let me know if you want to add/change/alter anything at all (big or tiny) throughout the appointment. I PROMISE it won’t offend me 🫶
You know your face better than anyone and we all have personal preferences. I won’t know unless you say something.
I hope these tips helped to answer any questions you had about your preview makeup appointment!
